Dr. Carter Owen is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and the subspecialty, reproductive endocrinology and infertility. She practices Thursdays at our Downtown D.C. office and every other day at our Vienna location.

After finishing her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Dr. Owen completed a combined fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology, Infertility, and Medical Genetics at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. During fellowship, Dr. Owen received the prestigious Society for Reproductive Investigation (SRI) Pfizer President’s Presenter’s award for her thesis work on oocyte development. She earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. While in medical school, she was awarded a research fellowship at the NIH where she focused her work on uterine fibroids as well as epigenetics.

She has presented research at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) Scientific Congress and Expo and the SRI annual meeting and has published manuscripts in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Fertility and Sterility, and Seminars in Reproductive Medicine.

She is passionate about evidence-based reproductive care including reproductive genetics and has participated in the writing of multiple ASRM committee opinions on topics including polycystic ovarian syndrome and preimplantation genetic testing. Dr. Owen is an associate member of ASRM and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and was named a 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 Washingtonian Top Doctor in Reproductive Endocrinology and a Castle Connolly Top Doctor from 2021-2024.
