We know that IVF and other fertility treatment costs can be a major source of stress during the fertility treatment process. We will work hard to help you be informed about your insurance coverage and other financing options.
If your insurance carrier or plan is out-of-network with us, payment is expected at the time of service. If you wish to submit services to an out-of-network insurance or secondary insurance, we will be happy to supply you with an itemized receipt for you to submit to your insurance company.
CCRM Fertility of Boston is proud to partner with Future Family, which offers affordable IVF and egg freezing plans, concierge care, and on-demand medical support. 0% interest financing is available on fertility treatments for up to 12 months, exclusively for eligible CCRM patients.
CCRM Fertility of Boston proudly accepts Maven benefits. Maven partners with employers to provide additional coverage and support for fertility services not often covered by your commercial insurance plan. Check with your employer to determine if Maven is a benefit option.

CCRM Fertility of Boston accepts Progyny benefits. Progyny covered services may vary based on the employer sponsoring the benefit plan. All Progyny patients (new or existing at a clinic) must first call their Progyny Patient Care Advocate (PCA) for authorization before scheduling an appointment with our clinic.

CCRM Fertility of Boston also proudly accepts WINFertility benefits. WINFertility has been the national leader in managed fertility benefits for over two decades. As patient benefits vary, contact your dedicated WINFertility support team prior to beginning treatment.

Massachusetts infertility insurance coverage: Your guide to benefits and eligibility
Navigating fertility treatment can feel overwhelming, but Massachusetts has some of the strongest infertility insurance protections in the country. Under Massachusetts General Laws (Mass Gen Laws Ann. Ch. 175, Section 47H, Ch. 176A, Section 8K, Ch. 176B, Section 4J, Ch. 176G, Section 4, and 211 CMR 37.00), as well as the 2024 Massachusetts Budget Amendment (FY2025-S4-296), insurers providing pregnancy-related benefits must cover infertility diagnosis and treatment, including IVF. If you’re considering fertility care, here’s what you need to know about your coverage.
Who qualifies for coverage?
Massachusetts law defines infertility as the inability to conceive or carry a pregnancy to live birth after:
✔ 12 months of trying (if under 35)
✔ 6 months of trying (if 35 or older)
If an individual conceives but experiences a miscarriage, the time spent trying to conceive before that pregnancy still counts toward the required timeframe for infertility coverage.
Additionally, coverage extends to individuals whose medical conditions or necessary treatments (such as cancer therapies) may directly or indirectly cause infertility. These conditions are recognized by leading medical organizations, including the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
What does Massachusetts infertility insurance cover?
If your health insurance plan includes pregnancy-related benefits, it must also cover fertility treatments, including:
- Artificial insemination (IUI)
- Gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT)
- Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
- Zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT)
- Assisted hatching
- Egg, sperm, and embryo cryopreservation (including storage)
Cost protections for fertility treatment
Under Massachusetts law, insurers cannot impose additional costs or restrictions on infertility treatment that don’t apply to other medical services. This means:
✔ No higher copays, deductibles, or coinsurance for fertility drugs
✔ No lifetime dollar caps on infertility treatment
✔ No waiting periods or benefit maximums specific to fertility care
Fertility preservation coverage
If you’re facing medical treatment that could affect your fertility, such as chemotherapy or radiation, Massachusetts law ensures access to fertility preservation services, including:
- Egg, sperm, and embryo freezing (cryopreservation)
- Long-term storage of reproductive tissue
- Coverage for individuals with medical or genetic conditions that may impair fertility
Who is Covered?
Massachusetts law requires infertility and fertility preservation coverage for:
✔ Individual and group health insurance plans in the state
✔ Employer-sponsored health plans with hospital and surgical benefits
✔ Health plans for active and retired state employees under the Group Insurance Commission
Are There Any Exceptions?
While Massachusetts provides robust fertility coverage, there are some exclusions. Insurers are not required to cover:
❌ Experimental infertility treatments
❌ Surrogacy arrangements
❌ Reversal of voluntary sterilization
Additionally, self-insured employers are not required to provide infertility coverage, as they are exempt from state insurance mandates.
Next steps: Understanding your coverage
If you’re considering fertility treatment, start by reviewing your insurance plan and speaking with your provider about your benefits. Understanding your options can make the journey to parenthood more accessible and financially manageable.
