The road to parenthood wasn’t easy for AnaCelia and Eddie. After multiple unsuccessful embryo transfers and exploring treatment options, including the possibility of removing AnaCelia’s fallopian tubes due to an obstruction, they decided it was time for a second opinion and a fresh perspective on their care. They knew they’d find the right fit in Dr. Alison Zimon of CCRM Fertility of Boston. 3 years 3 retrievals and 3 transfers later, they welcomed their healthy baby boy, Lorenzo.
What was your fertility diagnosis?
I believe it was initially diagnosed as unexplained infertility and later identified as a combination of fallopian tube obstruction and egg quality concerns.
When did you start your journey?
Officially in 2019; one year after getting married. Looking back, I had already taken a first step in 2014 when I consulted a doctor about fertility preservation, but I was advised to “relax.” In hindsight, that guidance was not helpful.
How did you discover you had infertility?
After getting married, we tried to conceive for a year without success.
How long were you in treatment prior to CCRM?
3 years, 3 egg retrievals and 3 transfers with 5 embryos.
At one of our previous clinics, we were advised to remove my fallopian tubes, which led us to seek a second opinion, as this was a major decision. After a couple of unsuccessful transfers, the same recommendation came up again. When we declined, we received a harsh comment from the doctor: “Why do you need [your tubes] for? You are not getting pregnant with them anyway.” Additionally, genetic testing was never mentioned, which I now believe was key. At the time, we didn’t know that embryos could be tested prior to transfer.
What brought you to CCRM?
We were determined to become parents, something we both had always dreamed of and talked about since we started dating. When we realized we might need help, we began our research. After reading about Dr. Alison Zimon and her impressive educational and professional background, we knew we wanted to see her. After working with the team since 2022, we can confirm it was the best decision.
What gave you hope throughout the process?
What gave us hope was seeing that so many others had walked a similar path and found their way through it.
What was your treatment experience like? The highs? The lows?
An emotional rollercoaster, but at the end of the day, we stayed confident that we would become parents in some way. There were so many options available to us, and we were open to exploring most of them.
Was there anything that surprised you on your journey?
Yes! Learning more about the process of conceiving made us realize that every baby is a miracle. We all learn it in high school biology, but somehow you don’t fully appreciate how complex it is until you’re going through infertility yourself!
What helped you along the way?
Not putting our lives on hold or planning everything around IVF results helped us most. We kept traveling, committing to events, and living our lives as normally as possible, trusting that the right moment would come. As we always said, “Go with the flow!”
What advice would you give to others on their journey?
Enjoy life as it is now. A baby will come to add to your happiness, but it’s important to find joy in the present too.
Tell us about your little one (s)!
Lorenzo was born on January 22, 2026 after an induction and about 12 hours of active labor. He arrived healthy at 6 lb. 2 oz and 19 inches, and has been growing beautifully ever since.

Our journey has also told us it’s important to spread awareness about:
- Teaching young women the importance of egg freezing
- Knowing there are so many resources available to women trying to conceive so they can feel confident that their dream of having a family can come true
- Conceiving through IVF is nothing to be ashamed of. IVF babies are the result of great effort (and yes, investment too 😊), and there’s no doubt they are deeply wanted and loved even before coming into this world
