A female doctor shows information on a tablet to a pregnant woman wearing a brown dress and cardigan. They are standing together in a medical office, both looking at the screen and smiling.

Genetic screening and counseling

Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) is a powerful tool that helps identify potential genetic risks, offering reassurance and supporting your hopes for a healthy pregnancy as you move forward on your path to parenthood.

A doctor in a white coat shows a tablet to a pregnant woman wearing a brown sweater, who is smiling and holding her belly. They appear to be discussing something in a medical office.
Two women sit across from each other at a table, engaged in a serious conversation. One woman listens attentively while the other, holding a pen, appears to be explaining something. A clipboard is on the table.

Genetic testing options at CCRM

PGT is performed by an experienced embryologist who safely removes and biopsies a tiny piece of each blastocyst to test for chromosomal abnormalities and/or hereditary conditions. This incredible science reduces the chances of implantation failure and miscarriage.

PGT-A

CCRM Fertility was the first fertility center to offer PGT-A (preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy) on a day 5 or day 6 embryo. Now, PGT-A is the gold standard in screening for chromosomal abnormalities to increase the chances of a successful pregnancy.

PGT-M tests embryos for any inherited genetic disorder that has a known mutation, including X-linked diseases like Fragile X, as well as cystic fibrosis, Tay-Sachs disease, muscular dystrophy, and, more recently, hereditary cancers.

PGT-SR is available for those who have chromosomal rearrangements, which means sections of chromosomes are found in a different position than expected. Carriers are typically healthy, but PGT-SR minimizes the risk of passing potential health issues to their children.
