Barry Perlman

Barry E. Perlman, DO earned his medical degree from Rowan University as the valedictorian of the class of 2014. He graduated from Lehigh University with a degree in Molecular Biology. Dr. Perlman completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Following his time as Chief Resident, Dr. Perlman finished his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School. He is an attending physician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center.

Dr. Perlman is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and board eligible in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. He has expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility, including recurrent pregnancy loss and infertility surgery management. Dr. Perlman has a special interest in exploring environmental factors that may affect fertility.  He is also well-versed in the areas of placental development.

Dr. Perlman has received several honors including, the Resident Research Award and the Excellence in Teaching Award. He has presented his research both nationally and internationally on reproductive outcomes following ectopic pregnancies, gender discrepancies in IVF, and the placenta’s role in pre-eclampsia. Dr. Perlman has published papers in the top peer-reviewed journals, featuring topics like assisted reproductive technology, effects of body mass on fertility, and reproductive outcomes.

Dr. Perlman is a proud New Jersey native. He resides in Westfield, New Jersey with his wife, two children, and two dogs. He enjoys cooking, hiking, and playing golf. Dr. Perlman also spends as much of his time outdoors as possible – no matter the weather!

Dr. Perlman joined the Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Science (IRMS) in July 2021 and will be seeing patients in the Clark & Hoboken offices.

Personally and professionally, Dr. Perlman likes to remind everyone that “Good things are going to happen.” And he is very excited to be there for them!
