Patient Finance Representative

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for providing outstanding customer service to the patients by phone and email and supporting the Patient Finance Managers with day to day responsibilities. This position is responsible for assuring that patients are given timely communication responses, insurance benefits are entered into the patient’s chart and benefits are verified prior to any appointments. He/she will report directly to the Director of Patient Financial Services.

Position Requirements:

Licensure: No licensure required

Education: High School diploma required

Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience: 2-3 years of prior work experience required

Previous customer service experience required

Previous insurance and billing experience preferred

Skills: Must have good attention to detail, be self-motivated, and be flexible. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to deal efficiently and courteously with all patients. Must have excellent organizational skills combined with excellent multitasking abilities. Must have excellent computer skills, demonstrate the ability to be a good team member and perform duties that are delegated to him/her.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Answer and return patient phone calls to the finance office while make notes in patient’s account regarding nature of the call and conversation; complete all follow-up as needed within 24hrs/the next business day
  2. Respond to and complete internal communication flags of patients needing to be contacted or problems that need to be resolved
  3. Answer any incoming patient emails on financial matters triaging any non-financial needs or questions
  4. Answer all “Ask a Staff” inquiries and other communication from the patient portal
  5. Load insurance card information the day they are received
  6. Verify benefits in order of appointment
  7. Send new patient template e-mail explaining costs and insurance participation
  8. Collect credit card authorization forms or vault information from patients
  9. Cover for the other Patient Finance Representatives, the Patient Finance Managers, and the Lead Patient Finance Manager
  1. Other duties as assigned
